Tarotians

Barranians, who refer to themselves as simply Ranians have tanned skin, black eyes and brown lushious hair that they often braid. The vast majority live in the mountains where they herd goats as the lands are far too sour to plant anything in. The rest live on the coast as fishermen. In summers they go on seafaring raids on neighbouring kingdoms. To a Barranian a true friend does not bother with manners as those are simply a sign you lack trust in the other person.

Religion

Haad, the barran queen of the dark is the diety of these land. All priests of Haad are female and live together in isolated places of worship etched into the mountains of Barrania. They are trained in literature, classic arts, horse riding, combat and assassination. Most importantly, they know the secret to keep bodies from rising after death. Although the rulers of Barrania tend to be male they always have a female representative in the form of a priestess of Haad whom they must obay or risk incurring their punishment. Likewise any man who mistreats their family will soon be visited by the daughters of Haad. Legends say such men are dragged into the deep underground tunnels of the mountains where they are thrown into Haads pit of offal wherein they must drown for all eternity.

The Troll

According to folklore those who wander by themselves in the mountains may be kidnapped by troll, or that troll sometimes sneak into the villages dressed as humans to kidnap children. They are said to look like a human but have hair like gold, skin pale like the moon with rose tinted blemishes around their eyes and of course a tail. They are also said to have strength enough to lift a horse and posess magical abilities. Their weakness being metals that burn them to the touch. Gold being the one exception.
