Ulvera

The pack hunt together

Example

Ulvera was once a part of the Mortevian kingdom and is now ruled by barbarian tribes. Few willingly wander into these lands since the flora and fauna grow unnaturally gigantic. Legends are told all over the continent of the Ulveran tribe leaders who ride on giant wolves into battle.

People

The Ulverans are one of the oldest folk in the continent, and are said to have come from tribes wandering east from ancient Memoria. Their eyes are as black as their hair which is long and straight. The men have long beards as well. The tribes leaders of Ulvera dye their teeth Red as a sign of status and to imitate the look of a wolf that has just feasted.

Religion

Ulverans do not worship gods, but they have some foundational legends and rites.

The founding myth of man:
They say that man was born into the world as prey, defenceless against nature and living in fear and starvation. Then one day a man named Airen was born. As a child a wolf came for him and he refused to flee, instead grabbing a rock and bashing the wolves head in. Airen was hailed as a king of man and wore a wolves head as his crown and he taught man to hunt and survive dominant over nature.

The rite of the hunt:
1. Do not run from threats.
2. Slay your prey.
3. Stay with the pack.
4. Respect your superior.

The eldenbeast:
A gigantic wolf said to be the reincarnation of the one Airen killed. The wolf is reborn every spring and is promptly hunted down as an initiation rite of new hunters.

Lifestyle

The Ulverans live in straw huts, made to be disposable if the tribe needs to move or in case of an attack, the homes are often only occupied by the child rearing, old and sick. Women, even pregnant are expected to follow into the hunt as it is said to teach the young in their belly about hunting.

Other tribes

There are other tribes than the wolves in Ulvera, thought they are in the definitive minority. The largest competing tribe was the Hyena tribe who recently traveled south into Eastern Perryl to found the Pyle Noble family.
